Solar Flares

The temperature rises

like solar flares

in my mind

I pray for cooling

like the planet

prays for life

I know the sound

of breathing out the fear

inhaling love

that knows

no bounds

It’s all I can do

to know the way

Time invades

a wayward soul

waiting for reconciliation

My heart beats

with the sound

of a distant drum

I know the rain

that falls like forgiveness

It’s my destiny

I am safe

I am known

It is true

and beautiful

Forever rising

with hope

with knowing

I’m okay

in all this mess

of life

reborn

Invisible Changes

I’m invisible

can’t you see?

I fade alone

into the lonely

and oppressive quiet

a place I know

with all my life

A space in the corner

Where else would I be?

Some people have addressed

a seeming unapproachability

in my frown

Others are afraid

of my intentions

though I am humble

and even when I’m kind

I’m misunderstood

Ushering isolation in

a caustic sadness

keeps me from trying

I’m not sure

it will ever change

All this energy

that sinks into my skin

and burrows in my psyche

I carry it all

I feel it all

Can I just shut it off?

Do I resign to this knowing?

I accept this place

even though you don’t see me
